Clear Water Isn’t Always Clean Water

Clear Water Isn’t Always Clean Water

Most of us turn on the tap without thinking twice. The water looks clear, so we assume it’s clean. But even treated municipal water can carry contaminants you can’t see, smell or taste.

What’s Really in Your Water?

Treated tap water can still contain sediment, chlorine, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and disinfection byproducts such as Trihalomethanes (THMs). PFAS, known as “forever chemicals,” are also a growing concern, and a January 2025 study estimated that fluorinated pharmaceuticals contaminate the water of 23 million Americans.

Refrigerator filters and counter top pitchers don’t remove these contaminants.

It’s More Than What You Drink

Water touches your skin, your hair, your food, your pets and your appliances.

Children are more vulnerable to contaminants like lead because their bodies absorb more relative to their size.
Pets can be sensitive to bacteria, heavy metals and chemicals in water.
Skin and hair can dry out from chlorine and hard water.
Appliances like dishwashers and water heaters last longer with filtered water.

What You Can Do

The right filtration system removes what you can’t see and improves the taste, smell and feel of your water. Every home is different, so the best first step is finding out what’s in your water.

I’m Roxann Abrams, a Water Filtration Expert, and I’m happy to help you choose a system that fits your home, with no unnecessary complexity.
